9 Levimir
1 Nova rapid to 10g of Carbs
I'm recently diagnosed, about 4-5 months now with type 1 and I'm struggling with it quite a bit.
I started out on about 14 Levimir before bed and that got my BG down to more normal. I was then introduced to Nova rapid and told to have 4 units with my evening meal. This worked okay and kept my BG down after my evening meal, but I was fighting hypos all day at work. I'm a bricklayer which is quite demanding. I've gradually been reducing my Levimir to avoid hypos at work. I still needed to snack between my breaks, which are about 3hrs between. Usually 1 ceral bar is enough to avoid the hypos, util my next break. I then started back at the gym (I run 2 miles, three times a week and weight train 3 times a week) and my levimir intake came down massivly. I was down to 7 Levimir before bed and still no Nova rapid during work. I only had to snack once in the morning before my first break to avoid a hypo. The rest of the day my BG was down to where it should be after 2 hrs of eating. Then all of a sudden it all stopped working and I'm baffled as to why. I'm now up to 9 Levimir before bed and I'm having to take a couple of units of Nova Rapid at work with some meals to keep the levels in check. But I suffer massive crashes. I can go from 9 two hours after eating, all of a sudden down to 3 half an hour later. I don't know what's gone wrong, I thought I was doing so well. I've started carb counting off my own back. My nurse said I didn't need to, but I'm finding it a much better way to keep my levels in check. It just seems that my BG is up and down like a yo yo all day long!
