Stick with very low carb foods, an omelette, meat, fish, cheese or similar. Just Google very low carb foods or snacks.

Loads of good food you can eat. Do you cook? Stick to veg that grows above ground, cauli, sprouts, cabbage, broccoli, green beans.
Fruit that ends in berry, strawberry, raspberry, blueberry.
Cream in coffee etc.
I make hot chicken on salads with avocado. Chicken with a cream sauce with mushrooms in.
For snacks, almonds etc

The ultimate in no-carb food is listed in Atkins diet books in the "Atkins Fat Fast". A method for weight loss resistant people to lose weight. It works! I've tried it.
The list includes soft cheeses, oily fish, bacon, avocado pears, oily nuts such as macadamias and Brazils, cream, egg yolks. So for breakfast, you could have, grilled streaky bacon and/or omelette cooked in butter. There's even a fat fast cook book, which you can look up.
you probably can't prevent your own liver from making glucose, but you can minimise.

Depends on whether or not you're counting calories, trying to put weight on or off.

I go for salad, mushrooms, dryfried tuna, dry stir fries, a lot of chili, garlic, ginger, a lot of veg, as dawnmc's list, spaghetti squash, sometimes a small amount of olive oil occasionally, very lean steak, chicken.
All fresh, all where I know what's in it.
I avoid processed food like bacon, sausages, etc, and most saturated fats.

if it were me id be eating fat (including saturated fat) it stops hunger and helps you lose weight if combined with low carb eating (my opinion and experience)

Exact opposite to mine then
Brief period I tried it I always felt hungry, and put on loads of weight.
Stopped eating fat to excess and switched to a portion controlled low calorie balanced diet and got on top of it.
I just make sure I eat to my meter.

hehe, glad it working for you

We're all different I guess.

The other thing I found was exercise.
It either takes your mind off eating, or just makes you feel sick so it puts you off for a bit, depending on how much you do!

To add to the other tips: Try drinking more good old plain water. Zero carbs, fills you up and has a host of other benefits as well (depending on what else ails you).

I upped my intake to 5-6 pints a day, cutting out tea and coffee in the process and having a pint of water when I felt hungry between meals. Apart from the obvious downside of more toilet trips, it's taken the edge off my hunger pangs and has probably helped quite a bit with my recent weight loss.

Hi, I like to make up individual pots of sugar free jelly. Obviously carb free on their own, but I also add small amounts of fruit (frozen raspberries, tinned mandarins in juice for e.g) they will only add a small amount of carbs and make it a bit more interesting!
At least it makes me feel I am having something 'puddingy'

these forams can drive u mad.......i eat what i want ..when i want ..but haveing said that i do always check my blood suger to make sure its at the level required for me i do take insuline....and i never go above the level ...as my diabetis is age related

Sup?

I went through the same, ate what I wanted when I wanted. I didn't feel any different till the results of my test came in, they were disappointing. I'm not an expert here but I don't think it matters how you got diabetic, age \ in the family etc.. You're still diabetic, please take care on what you eat. The biggest thing I've learned here is portion control. Hope you do well, kind wishes, Q..
