I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes about 2 months ago and have just done a pregnancy and it was positive

My sugars are not under control - I’ve got an appointment with the specialist diabetes nurse on 17th Aug - do I need to see doctor before hand? Or just tell DN at my appointment?

I did have gestational diabetes when pregnant with my daughter nearly 5 years ago but I only had it for 4weeks!

I don’t know what to do

Congratulations
I’m type 2 too

I phoned my diabetes clinic straight away and saw the nurse the next day.
They ramped up my meds and I have to visit weekly to get my sugars as tight as possible

Well I called the docs and I’ve got a booking in appointment on 15th August and nothing was mentioned about seeing the diabetic nurse as I have an appointment on 17th!

Hi, I wouldn’t wait that long to see your DSN, especially if BG’s are high. I would ring your DSN directly and see if you can get an earlier appointment. I’m nearly 8 weeks and I’ve been having appointments every 2 weeks since I found out x

Normally my sugars are about 6or7 (apart from first thing in the morning due to what I’m calling dawn Phenomenon) - I don’t have the diabetic specialist number & the normal diabetic nurse is booked up months ahead! I will try call again in the morning and chat to a receptionist
