hello there,i have an incident that has occurred with my six year old type 1 daughter and just wondered if anyone has had this happen, she was diagnosed a year ago so we are used to situation now,her insulin was changed about four weeks ago as she was going high, since the change and in the last week her appetite has all but gone and lots of lows.Yesterday she collapsed with a low of1.7 this was about ten in the morning on her doctors advice we didnt give her insulin last night. This morning she was given 8 units and went a bit low and at teatime was 2.7 so we didnt give her insulin again,we have checked her urine and it shows her being absoloutly normal and blood sugar at seven oclock was 5.4,does the urine test show normal on diabetics?any advice or views welcome.soory forgot to add in last day and half her appetite is back to normal

Insulin needs go up and down with seasons (heat), hormones etc etc many people with T1, even when they've had for 50+ years still produce some insulin of their own that can also add to the mix.
A urine test though isn't very accurate, many people don't spill glucose into the urine until their blood glucose levels are above 10mmol/l and it also refects what was going on a couple of hours earlier.
I really think it's a case of testing and adjusting, but I wouldn't think a urine test would be that useful.

I agree with Phoenix that insulin needs do change and need to be monitored constantly. I would suggest you speak with your daughters DSN about this issue and show all records of food, insulin ratio and bg readings so that they can advise further.
