I've been taking dapagliflozin for (I think) almost a year now, and haven't had any bad side effects - just the opposite, I felt much better quite soon after starting it. It seems to work - while I wish I didn't have to use medications I am grateful for the improvement in quality of life. Hope you have a good experience with it and it works for you too xHad the last of the fish pie for breakfast. I don't think pre-frozen potato is much good to me - I get very hungry after eating it, although quite full at the time and I've put back on all the weight I lost last week! Pity, I do like potatoes.
2nd meal is some strips of pork with some aubergine slices, some onion slices (about 1/3 of a small onion) and some tomatillos - just to try them. It's in the oven just now so I'll have that fairly soon.
Renal consultant has recommended a new medication for me and our Health Centre phoned today and said they'd send out a prescription for it. Never heard of it before. It's called Dapagliflozin but the pharmacist who called said there are a few potential side effects that don't sound very pleasant. Still, they might not happen. They also want me to try coming off of Bumetanide, which is a diuretic, because it can damage kidneys. At present I appear to have CKD stage 4. I could do without that.
Yes you are right, I am careful with it and monitor blood sugar meticulously. I had one wobbly moment in the summer when I'd been stuck for 7 hours in a traffic jam on the M5 and couldn't eat or access my BG monitor because the traffic kept crawling, so as soon as I could I stopped and bought an orange juice and some crisps which sorted things out.@jpscloud
In a previous post you mentioned being on a "flozin". I think you have to be careful when going low carb on those, so only reduce carbs slowly and consult your doctor who may want to adjust dose as you lower carbs. There is a risk of dka if you suddenly drastically reduce carbs
(Note I've been rapped across knuckles for saying this before as I can't provide sources and links but I've been around here long enough now to say I'm not a doctor so please double check with your gp, read the flozin packet for side effects and take care xx)
I've wondered about Cheyote, I'll be interested to hear if it improves with a day or two in the curry. It's totally not pathetic to be struggling with physical things! I'm coming to terms with my limitations now, I know my energy is very low and although religiously following low carb and losing a few stones would definitely help, I'm in the acceptance phase and just do what I can when I can. Deep cleaning has to happen in small stages these days - heck even regular cleaning has to! xThe last of the leek and chicken soup from yesterday for breakfast. The chicken and chayote squash curry will got in the freezer for another time.
2nd meal will be some cold pork with salad.
The chayote squash wasn't anything to write home about. Raw in salad it was tasteless and I don't think it has done much for the curry, but we'll see if it develops into anything worthwhile by being kept for a while. Shan't bother with any more of them. Yesterday I ordered a large chunk of fore-rib of beef to be picked up on Thursday. A rather large chunk - 4 ribs worth. I will roast it, on the bone, for Christmas and have lots of lovely roast beef left for serving cold. Hugo can have the bones when I've cut the meat from them. Or I suppose I could make broth with them.
It was very wet and windy yesterday and our water pressure dropped again, but didn't go off this time. Today is calm but still very wet and dark. Now that the water is back on, pretty well full on, I can do some washing, if I can get my legs and back to co-operate. They suffered a bit yesterday, along with my arms and shoulders when I helped Neil to fold 3 quilt covers which I had washed and dried but couldn't fold on my own. Pathetic!
Take good care of yourself. It does sound as though it is viral if the antibiotics are not helping and if you do also have a cold. Still worth taking the antibiotics though, I should think, to deal with any secondary infections that might arise. Does sleeping in a sitting position help with your breathing? I find that it does. Plenty of rest, keeping warm and plenty of fluids would be my response. Thanks @shelley262 , it's taking a while but I will get there. I've had a head cold as well as Bronchitis so nights have been mostly awake coughing and not being able to breathe. The anti-biotics haven't helped much this time so I'm thinking it's viral. Lucky me! Just have to wait. Have a nice day all.
