Well - here we are again. I got straight in this time, but the last message I posted was still there - unposted. However, when I checked, it has been posted - just before MrsA2. I am keying this in over the top of the posted/unposted message. Will that delete the message posted last night? We'll see.

Just a cup of coffee for breakfast. I hadn't made any soup and I couldn't be bothered with anything else because I had a pile of dishes and pots to wash, soaking in the sink because I couldn't stand up any longer yesterday plus a whole lot already done, but not taken off the drying rack, plus another load ready to come out of the dishwasher - I did some cooking yesterday, you understand and it took all my energy. Anyhow, it's mostly done now. It was a bit delayed though, because I realised that a pack of chicken thighs Neil had bought for me on Thursday, were about to go out of date so had to use them.

One chicken tagine in the oven currently, plus one tray of buttered chicken baking alongside and a pan of chicken stock made with the bones. All very well but at the same time I put the skins in the oven and they turned out just perfectly, tasty and crisp. So, what did I do? Had crunchy chicken skins for breakfast. Surprised that, toothless as I am just now, they were so crisp, I managed to eat them quite well. Not the breakfast I had intended though. Just greedy because once I started I couldn't stop.

Not feeling able to stand up to prep vegetables for soup now, so it probably will be that scrambled egg for a meal later on.

Dearie me! I have been awol a while. As I explained to @Annb , I had a bit of a tumble at home and aggravated my existing injuries. I'm still having niggles but I'm over the worst I think. Add to that, prior to my tumble, I had some kind of viral infection. At least that's what the eye Pavilion told me, as I've had pink eye for weeks. Eyes are not sore, and my vision has improved significantly! They said if they had a medal, they would have awarded me for the quickest, most accurate field test ever! So I've been told to ignore the pink eyes, they'll go away eventually. It doesn't help when youngest grandson tells me I look a bit "devilish". I told him if my eyes srart glowing, worry!

Apart from my own injuries, I've been snowed down with grandson's revision for school assessments, sorting out timetable clashes for the eldest's 4th year subjects, and dealing with a mini "thug" at younger grandson's school. That's thankfully resolved.

Anyway, my BG's are stabilising again (viral infections & stress are not helpful) and I hope I can maybe restore some order as I get mobile again.

Today

B. Still my usual TAG, a Benecol Kefir, 2 slices of SRSLY toast with ox tongue and egg mayo.

L. 3 M&S thin crackers with my seafood mix on it. It's just chopped up prawns, shredded seafood sticks, mayo, tomato puree, tobacco, paprika.

D. Usual Sunday campari & soda. Peri peri, and jerk chicken kebabs, veggie kebabs, and cauliflower fried rice. Hubby did most of it under instruction from me. I do have a photo but it won't let me send it for some reason.

Ah well.

Breakfast: Greek yoghurt, peanut butter. chia seeds, raspberries
2 jelly babies to stave off a hypo
Coffee and double cream
Lunch: lentil soup
Afternoon: 4 jelly babies to fix a hypo, cappuccino
Dinner: omelette with veg, salad, slice of bread
Was going to attempt keto carrot cake but my scales have just gone kaput. Typical - I was really excited about it.

Welcome back @maglil55. Seems you're as busy with family as ever, and pleased you're getting over your tumble and infection.

Today
B: 2 hard boiled eggs with mayo. Cwc
Then 2 hour dog walk, mostly on a beach and had dolphins swimming just off shore. Fantastic.
Quick cup of tea before a drive to other side of the firth where dolphins are reported as being seen regularly. Sceptical but successful, and they were so close. Much nearer to us on the beach than to those doing paid for boat trips.
Lovely walk too.
Trouble was food options seemed scarce so ended up in local Coop for more hard boiled eggs. Hubby had pasta salad pot. Later we each had a Magnum ice cream. Too sweet but I still ate it.
23000 steps in total should offset it a bit.
D: ham and bacon omelette with salad and coleslaw. Small whisky.

Total 6 eggs today...let's see what tomorrow brings

Saw the posts on the main thread. This recipe only says 2 tablespoons of powdered sweetener, doesn't specify a brand or level of sweetness or exact weight so the results could vary lot depending which sweetener you use. Are you UK based? If so I find this a useful reference, but note its from 2020 and some manufacturers have changed , or introduced new, formulations since then

Food for the last 2 days. as low carb as possible.... 97% sausages, ham, salad, hb eggs, also 2 mini figs (for the fibre) I put them in water to swell and then drink the liquid. I'm having a problem with my hands. I was told it was Carpal Tunnel? It really hurts too. Wonder if that's why my bg is up. I'm also a bit bothered about going to the hospital to the eye clinic. I have AMD and my right eye is not good. The optician told me I will probably have to have treatment and I know that means injections. Everyone tells me it's more uncomfortable than painful but the thought of it makes me cringe.

The site seems to be working most of the time now, but is very slow at responding. I'm sure the techs are doing their best, so no complaints.

Carpal Tunnel syndrome is really painful, so I really feel for you, Rosemary. I was diagnosed with that some years ago and offered surgery, although my GP said it could be dealt with by injections. I wasn't prepared to go down the surgery route and the consultant washed his hands of me. After a while, the pain eased off and my hands were free of pain for a few years. Maybe it wasn't Carpel Tunnel after all. The problem is back now, although not as bad as it was and I think it is arthritis, so the treatment, if any, would be different.

Sorry to hear of your eye problems. Have they told you it is Wet AMD or Dry AMD? That makes a difference to the treatment. I agree, I would hate to think of injections anywhere near my eyes., but I know people who have had surgery on their eyes involving injections, and they have told me that it wasn't anything to be squeamish about and wasn't painful, especially when considering the benefits. Doesn't make me feel any better about it though.

They haven't told me. I think it's Dry but maybe any tests next week will tell them. If it's changed to Wet, then it mght be injections.

Sweeteners

Sweeteners can be a tricky topic as lots of brands will try to convince you that they're 'stevia' but are in fact hiding a bunch of nasties. We use either Truvia, Natvia, or Pure Via (usually Pure Via as it's often the cheapest, especially in Morrisons) which can be found in Tesco, Morrisons...

I bought me some more scales for the carrots/almond flour, and used erythritol as a sweetener.
Managed to drop the cinnamon packet, have a very cinnamonny kitchen now.

The cake was just about a success - the ramekin started to overflow after 30 seconds so transferred it all into a mug. Did the frosting as well. Really enjoyed it, though it could have been a bit sweeter.

@RosemaryJackson try not to fret about eye treatment. Ive had lots and various. None have hurt, and the idea is worse than the practice, and it's soo worth it for sight improvement.
And hugs for the carpal tunnel. I had it when pregnant. Helps to wear wrist splints, you can buy at the chemists.

Has anyone posted on this thread today? My e-mail provider is having problems so I can't get messages and am working on an already open page.

Breakfast was a dry fried egg and lots of coffee. I was very thirsty.

All through the day I've had more coffee, one cup of tea and innumerable cups of hot water with half a lemon dunked in.

Finally had a meal about 7 pm - a 3 egg cheese omelette. That's 4 eggs today. BG has been pretty stable though, so that's something.

The medical consultant at the hospital wants me to be put onto one of those weight loss injections to help me to lose weight but I am very wary. The purpose is supposed to be suppressing the appetite, so you lose weight. I think I am well in control of my appetite most of the time and the amount of food I eat is not the cause of my weight gain - it's mostly fluid, as shown by the fact that cutting down the diuretics (to reduce kidney damage) has caused a very quick and notable weight gain (61/2 kilos in 6 weeks). My SIL tried it but it made her feel so sick that she couldn't eat anything. She certainly lost weight, but virtually fasting for a month would do that anyway. I am not convinced that this is the way to go. Makes me think that the consultant just doesn't believe me when I say that it is not food that is causing the weight gain.

Just had some slivers of cheese for breakfast , with coffee. No soup made and I've had enough eggs for a while.

I must make some soup for today and am just considering what would be the easiest. Probably lentil would fit the bill - I have some chicken stock from the thigh bones I used a day or so ago, so that's what I'll do, when I can muster the energy.

Thanks. If I do have to have injections, I will be fine after the first one. It won't be unknown territory anymore and I can tell others that it is more the idea than the actuallity!! Have no idea why it's suddenly in Italics. Did nothing different.

Yes you're right it's fear of the unknown and once it becomes known/experienced the fear diminishes, hopefully!

@Antje77 really missing the tales of your escapades and your animals and your swims and your dates and your neighbours. Have you become mundane and ordinary now you're a working person? I hope not. Can we have a story sometime soon please?

Moved from one stay to a hotel for a couple of nights.

Think there's been a far few hidden carbs in today's food. No idea what was in the soups, and the salad dressing was very sweet .

Breakfast: lentil soup and coffee.

Dentist this afternoon to get my false teeth back so I should be able to eat properly later today. Just in case though, I have some beef ragout ready to reheat.

I seem to be eating anything I can lay my hands on! I'm alwayd tired, hungry and a bit fed up. Atm, I can't seem to cope with being diabetic. Tomorrow i another day.
