Have you used one before? If not, they do a free sample, as does Dexcom.I might look into budgeting for a Libre.
Ah thank you! I will have a think about it. It wont be in my budget long term but I could get quite a lot of insight from short term use, I think.Have you used one before? If not, they do a free sample, as does Dexcom.
Info on the free ones. Some people use them to gain useful insights, rather than make regular purchasesAh thank you! I will have a think about it. It wont be in my budget long term but I could get quite a lot of insight from short term use, I think.
I had my wallet with ALL my cards stolen (bank, driving license, car registration, health/car insurance, and various minor cards), and my only car key.
A very sensible way to handle a rotten situation!I drank beer while waiting to be picked up, I had injected for it after all!
Congratulations and I am so glad you took the job on again - thank you in advance for your hard work!found myself a moderator again just before the end of my shift.
Enjoy that well earned sleep in, and I hope the date is a very happy one!Tomorrow I'll sleep in, then have my cleaner, an appointment to get a new drivers licence, and a date!
Thanks!I am so sorry that happened to you, what a nightmare. Thank goodness the bank paid you back for the stolen money.

Have you tested afterwards? After swerving a takeaway last night, I caved and ordered a pizza tonight. I have snacked a bit during the day but mostly on actual food not rubbish - I had a handful of toasted cobnuts, some cottage cheese with ryvita and a bowl of greek yogurt with some blueberries (thanks for reminding me I had some greek yogurt in the fridge, @Annb!
It was a thin crust pizza, and I didn't eat much of the base or any of the outer crust. I have half of it left so will probably eat that for breakfast
Such a shame to have things stolen from your car. Well done for the speedy and sensible response. Glad to hear that the bank were helpful and paid you back for what was taken from your account.. I'm not surprised that you were tired what with working 7 days on the bridge.Chinese takeaway on the bridge, second day.
I found two dishes that are pretty low carb and that I like a lot, a small sized portion from both lasts me for two days, perfect for when I'm too busy to prepare proper food.
And busy I have been!
I had a 7 day stint on the bridge last week, saturday through friday. Which is tiring enough all by itself, but on wednesday I had my wallet with ALL my cards stolen (bank, driving license, car registration, health/car insurance, and various minor cards), and my only car key.
Free bit of unsolicited advice: Don't forget your key in your car door when you work in a city.
I only found out at 8 pm after work, and after injecting for the two beers I was going to have when I got home. Not my idea of a nice evening.
Blocked both bank cards (both had been used already but the bank payed me back) and got a friend to pick me up and bring a bicycle lock to lock the pedals to the steering wheel so my car wouldn't be stolen at night.
Contacted more friends to find a way to get to work in the next two days, and realised I had gotten groceries, including beer during my break. Sans car I wasn't going to drive anyway so I drank beer while waiting to be picked up, I had injected for it after all!
Thursday and friday were for finding a way to get new car keys (so glad I have time for those kind of things during my work day!), and I finally got to go home in my own car at 9:15 pm after my 7th day on the bridge. Exhausted is an understatement.
On monday on the bridge I made all the other phonecalls needed (very funny to call with police/bank/library and tell them "let me put you on speaker while I open a bridge"). On tuesday I started to recover, and found myself a moderator again just before the end of my shift.
Good thing there's not that much traffic on the water anymore, today I spent most of my shift reading around to start getting the hang of moderating again, which will take some time.
Tomorrow I'll sleep in, then have my cleaner, an appointment to get a new drivers licence, and a date!
A real traditional one this time, he's taking me out for dinner, never did that with a date before.
It's a second date, we already met once in april and had a very enjoyable evening with lots of talking, so I'm looking forward to it!
I’ve had similar experiences with finger pricking after eating chocolate. My experience is that it’s really important to wash hands first, something I’m very guilty of not doing.Well, I don't think the walnuts worked today but it's very hard to say with a few factors - I think I have Covid Lite (I believe I had the new version of Covid a while ago, and I've had some similar but much milder symptoms last night and today, which might have put my BG up (it's currently over 11, more than 2 hours after eating) - it certainly did with the major illness I had before. I've also overeaten a bit, and then had some chocolate. And I've been inactive - the bean processing yesterday must have been more active than I thought.
The other factor is my fingerprick testing - I did one this morning and got 5.3 which I didn't believe, so retested with the same fingerprick site and got 8.6! I've always taken the readings more for seeing a trend rather than taking individual readings as gospel. I might look into budgeting for a Libre.
Hug for the nightmare theft well done on managing to sort it out with bank and getting new car key. It must have been a very stressful experience.Chinese takeaway on the bridge, second day.

I know we wanted rain for our gardens and not to need to water as much but it's hard to deal with the weather being so unsettled. I find I'm not tempted outside as much with dark clouds looming and risk of getting drenched! Weather looks more settled for a few days So hopefully we will get back out there. After swerving a takeaway last night, I caved and ordered a pizza tonight. I managed to do a bit in the garden but feel frustrated that I can't get much done. I think the weather might improve after tomorrow and I suppose I should really use this opportunity to do the decluttering and cleaning I've promised myself I'll do in the house!
I didn't - my betachek cassette had run out and I was too lazy to go upstairs to fetch a new one! It's also typical of me to avoid testing when I'm off the railsHave you tested afterwards?
It may not be as bad as you think, leaving the outer crust and most of the base!
I do always wash my hands - finger pricking is a major infection invitation and I don't need any more health issues!I’ve had similar experiences with finger pricking after eating chocolate. My experience is that it’s really important to wash hands first, something I’m very guilty of not doing.
I bought 500g but I do love walnuts so I don't mind if they don't bring my BG down much, I can use them up as a healthier snack on snacky days!Breakfast: cream of mushroom soup which I made yesterday. It is currently reheating and I will have it shortly.
2nd meal is a mystery at the moment. It depends on what Neil can get for me when he goes shopping.
I think the walnuts are working for me in terms of keeping BG down to a reasonable level but am beginning to think that they don't agree with my insides. I've asked Neil to try to get some walnut oil and will try that instead and stop eating the actual nuts for a few days to see if that settles my gut down again. I hope I'm wrong because I just bought a kilo of walnuts from a health food shop on the mainland to add to the 300g packets that Neil can get in the town, when they have them.
I go into hibernation mode so fast when the weather turns rainy! It's amazing how it affects my mood and motivation. I wonder if I should look into light therapy or some such thing.I know we wanted rain for our gardens and not to need to water as much but it's hard to deal with the weather being so unsettled. Well done managing to not to overeat the pizza and limiting the amount of crust you ate.
Today definitely looks like an indoors sorting day well this morning!
