"What have you eaten" Parallel Chat

Mr. Outlier is in charge of the garden, so I don't know what other goodies he has sprouting, but I agree home-grown is best - ours are organically raised with no nasties. He grows spuds, carrots and parsnips, but of course I mustn't eat those. Yesterday's evening meal was salad and the leftover roast beef from a couple of days ago, with mayonnaise, small glass of red wine and I remembered the chocolate. Gotta love Montezuma's 100%.

Avocado on crispbread for breakfast, and some tea.

2nd meal will be the rest of the shepherd's pie from yesterday.

Ahhh parsnips too! I failed with those, they wouldn't even germinate!

I'm hungry today but am having to think about breakfast. I've been relying rather too much on the fairly low carb, mixed seed crackers recently and I'm beginning to think that, once again, they are upsetting my inner equilibrium. Trouble is, they are there and I am sore so just want to reach for the easiest thing. Not today though, sore or not, I have to get back onto something with less of an effect on me. Eggs, I suppose, or cheese, or both. Trouble is, both of those are out in the back porch fridge and my legs don't want to know about that. Hmm - try to engage brain and think about what to do.

Breakfast was 2 eggs scrambled with slices of tomato with cheese melted over them. Tea.

2nd meal is going to be just sausages - no veg to give my system a rest.

It’s the seeds that failed, not you

For breakfast I made some kind of chaffle pancakes and made a fried egg sandwich with 2 of them. Water instead of tea - for speed because I had to go out to get my legs bandaged.

2nd meal will be avocado salad - perhaps with another chaffle pancake.

Chaffles for breakfast. Tea.

2nd meal will be fish fingers and salad.

Finally managed to get into the "My Diabetes" site to see my Lab results. Mostly just about what I expected - apart from the kidney results, which were worse than I had hoped for - not that the Health Centre seems to be bothered about it. It is actually worse than average for someone of my age and condition though. As usual - on my own with this.

I'm often up very early these days and I enjoy that, but today has been a bit of a write-off, which I don't mind really - I feel very fortunate and grateful that I'm retired and have the luxury of just goofing off from life if I need to.

Earlier this week I had a great couple of days where I wiped the drives of several pieces of old tech that have been lying around needing to be got rid of for years and they're now ready to be recycled. While doing that, I got some pretty good decluttering done and mostly demolished Mount Washmore (aka the laundry heap). Now I need to get to the tip - probably a couple of runs, hopefully next week.

Food wise things have been well and truly not low carb! I am struggling to get myself back on track but I think the decluttering and resetting of my home - if I can keep myself motivated - will help me to be more inclined to look after my food choices a bit better.

The switch from ozempic to mounjaro has been interesting, I had to start on a low dose of mounjaro and my appetite really rebounded, so I've gained weight. I am starting the next level dose this weekend so I hope that will stop the overeating.

i was intending to make a Christmas cake today - I don't make them early because I don't use alcohol - and I have the ingredients ready to go, but Neil found some really big leeks in the fridge in the back porch which need attention so, instead the energy will all be used making leek soup and some braised leeks to go with some chicken - yet to be defrosted. Don't expect to be eating any of it today though, so it will either be soup for the next few days or it will go into the freezer for future use (not the preferred solution, I'm still trying to empty the freezer).

Cake making tomorrow.

I'm getting two packs of minced beef out of the freezer today! I'll make a big slow cooker full of stew, using swede and carrots from the garden, and I'll have it with roast Japanese squash from my one and only squash from the garden this year! The orange one was bigger and looked fantastic but it was rotten at the back, very disappointing!

Breakfast was ham and cheese rollups and some tea.

2nd meal will be similar to @jpscloud - beef mince with vegetables. I have a butternut squash but probably shan't use it - enough veg (carrot, onion, swede, celery, garlic) in the stew, I should think.

Leek soup is made with some frozen potato to thicken it, chicken stock and it will be finished with double cream.

I didn't get around to making my stew today, the mince didn't thaw in time and I've been faffing around replacing some old tech which is always a joy! I'll get the stew started early tomorrow.
