5 am FBG 4.9 - Hurrah! Co-codamol and tea. I had to take half a dose at 2.30 am and then again at 5 am. Legs very bad. Better now though. 9.45 BG 7.4 - still reasonable. 10.50 brunch - 2 vegetable frittatas (using some of the broccoli and chick peas) Carbs less than 15. Evening meal will be about 7 pm, I expect. It will be some prosciutto with a couple of Atkins crackers. Carbs less than 4. Just had a phone call from a diabetes nurse. They think I'm taking too much of the basal dose of insulin and want me to cut back to where I was a week and a half ago. Also they think I am taking too much short acting insulin and will need to cut that back as well. This is because my levels for the last 2 days have been, mostly between 7 and 8. To me that's good. To them the control is too tight! Even though on Saturday, after brunch it was 15.8. I just left it that I would reduce a bit, but not as far as they want and will put it back up again if my readings tomorrow are high. They'll call back on Thursday and see how I've got on. I don't understand why they think I should have readings higher than the recommended range. Edited to add: Is there something I don't know about, maybe to do with my age?
