If you have good stable BG control with an HB of 7-8 please can you answer the following questions?

What is your sex, height, weight? What is your basal rate? Is your basal split? How, and at what times do you inject?

What is you insulin to carb ratio?

Do you follow a special low carb diet?

Give an example of a typical breakfast, lunch and dinner...

Do you snack? If so, what is a typical snack?

How much excersise do you do?

Lastly, do you keep a BG diary permanently?

Thanks
Derrick

Diagnosed just over 2 years ago. My last hba1c was 6.8, but do expect a slightly better one next time from recent readings. Was having basal but was always hypo even when reducing qa. Probably from all the excercise so tried no basal. My only slightly higher reading is am waking at 7 to 9, but under 7.5 all day. Through testing I am only high in the morning between 4 am onwards so if I was to have a small amount of basal would probably hypo before 4am. Also since no basal have only had 1 hypo :)

Hi,

HbA1c: 53
Height: 5ft 6
Weight: 8stone 10
Basal: on a pump, basal from midnight-4:30 is 0.575u/hr, 4:30-8am 0.7u/hr, 8-12 0.8u/hr, 12-9pm 0.6u/hr, 9pm- midnight 0.625u/hr.
I:C ratios: breakfast 1:7, lunch 1:6, tea 1:6.5.
Works out as basal just over 15u daily & bolus varies from about 14-19u depending on my carbs. I was told years ago I had an unusual ratio of basal:bolus insulin - it's usually 50:50 but when I ate high carb it was 35:65
Have reduced carbs since 27/10/12, was eating 200g or more (much more with my weekly takeaway) but now <130g/day, sometimes 70g, sometimes around 100g.
HbA1c taken 2wks after reducing carbs was 54, so no change. However, I have been logging all my BG values since 1/12/12 & can see that I have higher spikes after a high carb meal, so am continuing the lower carb diet. I log them on the sugarstats website, also log all food eaten, insulin doses & activity.

Typical breakfast: natural Greek yoghurt 150g,few blueberries, sweetener. Sometimes slice low carb bread or rye bread as well. Omelette about twice a week, bacon once a week.

Lunch: sandwich with low carb bread, salad, sometimes pack pork scratchings.

Tea: fish or meat & vegetables, celeriac or cauliflower mash instead of potato.

Snacks are almonds or pistachio nuts, pepper salami folded around egg mayo sandwich filler, yoghurt, I'll have a latte occasionally, cheese, cold meats, square dark chocolate.
If I exercise or if I have a hypo my carb count goes up.
I exercise 2-4 times a week, cardio, at 70-85% max heart rate, for 45min to 70min.
