Hello all, I was diagnosed type 2 six years ago following on from gestational diabetes. I have been on Metformin and Gliclazide, lost weight etc but my Hba1C keeps going up. Diabetes nurse is sending me off to hospital with the view to moving me onto insulin. My question is: what happens at the hospital? Do they do other blood tests and then what. Bit anxious about it and it would put me at ease if I know what to expect when I go. Many thanks.

Yes I have done it all and is well documented all the steps I have taken food diaries etc. Nurse says she suspects type 1.5 and is turning me over to hospital. I only want to know what happens at hospital.

Request a GAD test at hospital, this may confirm late onset T1. As for hospital, if you are going onto insulin they will go through everything with you, injection sites, when to inject and how much. Most are put on 2 types, background and quick acting ( with meals ). Not sure if this is sort of info you require ? If not, ask any further specific questions. Take care.
