I have nearly reached my ideal weight on the LCHF diet and my BG is now normal ( GP more than pleased) So I shall soon be needing a maintenance diet. Has anyone got one that is successful? I would like it to be as LCHF as possible but without the weight loss

Tell us what your diet is like now. How many carbs are you eating? How much protein and fat? Are you eating nuts? They tend to cause weight gain.

Pretty typical LCHF diet.
Breakfast Eggs, bacon, occasional sausage. Berries with full fat yogurt
Lunch. Celery, hummus, cream cheese, ham , soups etc.
Dinner. Steak, chops, chicken, salads of all sorts, Frittata.

Loads of recipes from Diet Doctor
Almonds , olive oil, butter, cheese,
No potatoes, pasta, rice, bread, pastry or cake. Sometimes lactose free milk and one square 85% or 90% chocolate a day.
Have lost 2st, 6 lb and when I lose another 2 or3 I need to stop

Low Carb is a lifestyle not a diet really, so it is your maintenance as well as your "cure"

Your weight loss will likely stall when you have got rid of most of the excess fat.

Nice concept if you're lucky!

HiladandHoward (Just love the name! - Do you have matching sweaters?) - For me, this was the trickiest part of my whole journey thus far. I kept losing, when I wanted it to stall.

My first step was to just eat a little more of everything, so slightly more yoghurt, a few more berries, a chunckier chicken portion, and extra dollop of cauli cheese. Get the picture? Well, that didn't work!

I can't recall which of the next two things I did first, but I then added additional cheese, then additional peanuts (or vice versa) and at last I stabilised. Phew.

Aside from the just a bit more of most things phase, each additional step was very measures. So, a portion of extra cheese was 1oz or a Mini Babybel. The additional nuts were measures in a fairly large egg cup; again so that I could "dose" consistently.

Make one change at a time, and give it a couple of weeks before making any further changes. I obviously haven't continues in that vein, but it halted the loss and gave me a clue what additions I had to make to gain parity. I haven't regained any of the weight lost, except for literally one or two kilos I lost after surgery last year. Getting that back on was quite a challenge I won't bore you with!

2-3 stone is still quite a bit of weight. I would t worry about it until you're much closer. Many of our bodies find homeostasis on their own. The first bunch of weight is the easiest to lose. As you get closer to your ideal weight it stalls or slows for many of us.
