I noticed that the fasting blood sugar level varies on the fasting length. Not necessarily, the long is the fasting hour the lower is the BS reading at fasting . I noticed even 6 hours fasting sometimes produces better reading compared to that of 12 hours fasting . Usually ,the lab technicians advise 10-12 hours fasting length for a BS test . Is there any science that indicates exactly what should be the best fasting length to have a better BS level?

I did a bit of searching for this and came up with nothing conclusive. Advice seems to range from 8 to 12 but sometimes even longer.

Also, because some people have liver dumps once they have fasted over a specified time.

The last two fasting result I had, both in the middle of the year were 5 after 16 hours fasting & 5.6 after 13 hours fasting. Should be noted I was highly stressed at the time so those readings are probably higher then they would have been if I had not been so stressed.

Hi William , I think your numbers are very good . But 16 hours of fasting is too long .

16 hour is definitely too long, it just worked out that way.

I should point out that I am not diabetic, only possibly approach pre diabetic.
