Hi
I noticed on a previous posing that someone refered to starchy veg and i wondered if someone could fill me in on what they were so i can avoid.
Also which high sugar fruit i should be avoiding. The past few mornings i have had a portion of chopped melon that you buy from asda in a pack at a £1 or the same in pineapple, part of me thinks this is maybe not the way to go as its full of natural sugars but this was an alternative to taking carbs in the form of bread or cereal, what say you.

Thanks Andrene

In general anything that grows below ground is higher in starches/sugars than the green things that grow above ground.Have a look in the Food forum and you will find lots of info. Also the Collins Gem carb counter book is invaluable for telling you the amount of carbs in various fruit /veg etc.
So,such things as potatoes, carrots, parsnips should be either avoided or eaten in very small portions.
As for the fruit I suggest again the Collins gem Carb or GI book.It depends on the size of pack as to what the carb count is!!!
