Hello sorry I am asking lots of questions on here but when eat LCHF/PALEO;/KETO what do you do when you get the shakes like you feel like you are having a hypo but when you check your BSL it is in the normal range the last two days my BSL is 4.8mmol/L or 5.00mmol/L. I was told when first diagnose to treat it like a hypo but what is the best think I should do. Also the reading is about 4 hours after I have eaten. thank you

Questions - and answers - are what this forum is for! :D

Have you brought your blood glucose levels down recently? If so, the wobbliness could just be false hypos, and your body will, over time, adjust to it.

However, I see from your profile that you are on quite a cocktail of diabetes meds, so there is the possiblity - if you have recently brought your blood glucose levels down using LCHF/PALEO/KETO, then maybe your medication needs adjusting/reducing. This is something you would need to discuss with your healthcare team.

As I am sure you are aware, a true hypo is under 4mmol/l, but there are plenty of situations where we can feel hypo with readings higher than that - these include when blood glucose drops sharply, when our medication drives our blood glucose down too far, too fast, and when our bodies are used to running with much higher blood glucose and we ask them to adjust to 'normal' levels again.

Can you describe what you are eating on your LCHF/PALEO/KETO way of eating? Almost everyone has a slightly different interpretation of what those terms mean. :)

@annabell1 It is also worth considering that the margin of error on most meters is plus or minus 15%. this would give you a range of readings between 4.08 just above a hypo reading and 5.52 both of witch especially the lower one could make you feel queasy if not used to those levels I would also like to agree with @Brunneria that you would be best advised to discuss your meds with your HCT.

Hello Brunneria
my BSL is normally in 4.8 to 8 prior to starting this WOE but I had been eating bread for 8 weeks for a celiac test so I ate bread then so my BSL did go up to 10 mmol/L after eating bread. during this period. Hence why I want to go back to this WOE.

SO the last few days I have gone back to this WOE I have eaten since Thursday last week brunch two egg omelette with mushrooms, 1/2 tomato some ham: dinner chicken breast no skin coated with Almond flour about 1/4 of the breast a small salad consisting of Iceberg lettuce 1/4 carrots some snow peas 1/2 avocado a teaspoon of mayonnaise (brought not home made) snacks strawberries and a tablespoon thick cream. Fri: tin of salmon with salad consisting of Iceberg lettuce 1/4 carrots some snow peas 1/2 avocado a teaspoon of mayonnaise (brought not home made) sat: 1/2 avocado 1 boiled egg 1/4 left over almond crusted chicken breast, dinner chicken again homemade tabelah (it had burgha in it) some carrots; don't know what I had on Sunday forgot to jot it down Monday One home made waffles with almond meal egg cream cheese and some maple syrup black coffee, lunch boiled egg some carrots a babybell cheese and smart protein bar 1.5g carbs; dinner few slices of salami babybell cheese lost the plot last night and had some chips then late that night made some custard with full fat milk and teaspoon raw sugar and xmas pudding (was tired long story feel bad I ate this) breakfast home made ham cups quiche made with whipped eggs cream ate one only felt unwell so could not eat any more black coffee. tonights dinner 4 lamb cutlets marinagted with yoghurt and tandoori served with some boiled brocollini, beans and tablespoon yoghurt and teaspoon mango chutney

yes I mentioned at my last visit with my endocrinologist that Iw anted to see if I can get of meds I was advised that these are like taking tic tacs and not to worry about taking them. My next appointment is not until Feb next year. I have mentioned in previous appointment trying this WOE and was only advised to cut my diamrocon from 60 to 30mr but stay on 100 Junivia

Wow... it isn't often I am speechless.

If they genuinely are like tic tacs, then why the heck have they bothered to prescribe them?

Have a hug. That kind of healthcare isn't really healthcare at all, is it?

thank you so much I was also taken back from what he said also on other occasions I have wanted to follow LCHF but have had issues and fallen back into bad eating habits so I have a feeling he things I would do this again... I also have Sever ulcerative colitis and sometimes it is difficult for me to eat some foods so when I am not feeling well I have tended to eat food that is easier on my stomach then what is really healthy like white bread rice and vegies which is a shocker for my T2D,,, but I want to get back to this WOE and praying it helps with my T2D to get off meds and as hoping to get my UC in remission.
