Over the past week my leg has been very bruised, red and sore were I inject my insulin. I thought. Would post on here as I won't be able to get a docs appointment until late this week possible early next week. Should it be concerned ???xx

Hi Lauren

Do you rotate your injection sites? If you always use the same spot it will get very sore and you could develop lipodystrophy - a kind of lumpy fattiness that will give poor absorption of insulin. If you think the area might be infected you should see your GP.

Hi, yeah I rotate my site as often as possible. It doesn't have any lumps just a bit of swelling and the redness and bruising. I will see a doctor as soon as I can get an appointment, just thought. Would see if anyone's had a similar experience before xx

Hopefully nothing a nasty as cellulitis. If it gets hot and 'puffy' I wouldn't leave it too long before seeing a doctor.

The bruising will be due to hitting a tiny blood vessel when injecting and it bleeding under the skin, try and keep away from this area for a while and let it settle down, if you do think it is infected then see your gp.

Can I ask what needle size you use Lauren?

Hi, haven't necked there for nearly 2 weeks, and the bruising seems to be getting worse. I using 4mm needles. Still trying my best to get an appointment with the doctors xx
