Type 1 What to eat after a workout?

What do people eat after a late bike ride or a late run 6pm/8pm...... eat for recovery without blood spiking??.......Type 1
 
Personally I would go for something high fat. A banana and peanut butter is something I would consider. Malt loaf is a favourite as well.
P.S welcome to the forum.
 
How about a couple of nice sirloin steaks.

Mind you if you need carbs with that then a banana would be an option.
