I've just been diagnosed pre diabetic, so I'm starting to adjust my diet etc. My question to anyone out there is:-What do people generally eat when they start to get the shakes and what foods are best to have with you at work when it's hard physical work? I find I have to eat or drink something far too often ( every hour or so) or I start getting visual flickering, shakes and weakness. Any suggestions much appreciated.
Thanks

hya rugman and welcome,
i myself would get a blood monitor so you know what your bloods are when you are shaky, depending whether its high or not will depend on what to eat, i would also cut out sugar and cut down on carbs to keep decent numbers

Hi if you are getting visual problems shaking and weakness the your sugar levels are probably bordering on a hypo,i saw my workmates have the same problems working in a forge in front of furnaces but as soon as they ate an orange or a mars bar they were back to normal in 5 minutes.
I am a diabetic and always carry Dextrose sweets and suck on 1 or 2 of them if i get the same symtoms as you and they do the trick.
