I've just been diagnosed pre diabetic, so I'm starting to adjust my diet etc. My question to anyone out there is:-What do people generally eat when they start to get the shakes and what foods are best to have with you at work when it's hard physical work? I find I have to eat or drink something far too often ( every hour or so) or I start getting visual flickering, shakes and weakness. Any suggestions much appreciated.
Thanks

hya rugman and welcome,
i myself would get a blood monitor so you know what your bloods are when you are shaky, depending whether its high or not will depend on what to eat, i would also cut out sugar and cut down on carbs to keep decent numbers :D

Hi if you are getting visual problems shaking and weakness the your sugar levels are probably bordering on a hypo,i saw my workmates have the same problems working in a forge in front of furnaces but as soon as they ate an orange or a mars bar they were back to normal in 5 minutes.
I am a diabetic and always carry Dextrose sweets and suck on 1 or 2 of them if i get the same symtoms as you and they do the trick.
