Politicians who, in dealing with dictators, have a wishbone where a backbone should be.
It's been one of "those" days today and it's suddenly dawned on me...did I take my insulin today? (Lantus & Liraglutide)
For the life of me, I honestly cannot recall if I did or not.

I've decided to wait and inject the usual dose tomorrow.

I'd like to ask... what would you do under those circumstances?

weewillie.

I'm only just over a week on insulin but If it was me I would wait until tomorrow.

I'd fear what a double dose might do.

Yes, that was my thinking scottish-jim.

Appreciate your reply.

All the best for your health using insulin.

Check the Timesulin pen cap. Lacking that, monitor BG closely and correct if necessary.
That's a brilliant idea, I never knew such a thing existed AMBrennan. Thank you.

Re: What would "you" do?

Hello all. 40 minutes after my lunch yesterday ,I had a huge hypo. I was freaking out , at first I thought ill just have a cup of tea with a couple of sugars followed bread and butter. 30 minutes later by bg was 3.9 that is when it hit me I had double dosed ! I then went into complete panic. I stuffed my face, biscuits , flake , dry bread more super sugary teas. My bg would climb to 5.6 then 20 minutes later it was 3. It took me 3 hours of yoyo bgs. The worst thing is I had my 3 young children at home. My conclusion ......I am a t#@t. Next time I have any doubt whatsoever I will just leave off the insulin,

WW,

There's a device called Timesulin that fits on the end of pens and tell you the time and date when you last used the pen, it comes in handy for those times when you can't recall if you've injected your insulin or not, here is the website:

Hi noblehead.

Yes that's a brilliant device, "AMBrennan" pointed me in that direction and I'd a good read regarding it.

I must thank you for responding anyway.

Have a great week.

The only silver lining to that particular cloud is that you can of course stuff your face for a few hours. Once happened to me when we'd gone for a walk at a country house, luckily by the time I went hypo I was in the house right by the cafe, and managed to make light work of a plate of scrummy cakes.

I had the opposite problem the other day, I forgot to take my lantus, didn't realise, then panicked when my bgs went up to 15 despite taking lots of novorapid for lunch. Found my pen in its bag with the dose dialed in but not taken, so worked out what had happened, must have got distracted inbetween dosing up and doing it, d'oh!

Been there!

For my novorapid I have an echo pen, I got it for the half unit option but it's great as the display on the end tells you what you last dose was and how long ago. very handy for those have I, haven't I momements.

I've also started putting all the needles I need for the day in the case with my pen. I have five injections so each morning I count out the 5 needles and pop them in. Then I can see at a glance if I have missed a dose as I can see an extra unussed needle. Again it's saved me a few times.
