This came up in a discussion the other day with a fellow type 1, what year did prescriptions become free on the NHS for diabetics on insulin and tablets, I remember paying for my supplies in the early 1980's but just forget when I stopped, can't find anything on Google :?

I've never had to pay for mine and was diagnosed in 1965 at the age of 4 1/2. The only thing I was expected to pay for was disposable syringes. (drug adicts had them free)

Thanks CarbsRok :) I wonder if that's what I remember as I did buy the BD Disposable Syringes a lot due to awful glass syringes we had back then.
