What's Going On With Me?

I've been having a lot of trouble lately. I'm always thirsty and all the water that I drink makes me have to use the washroom a lot. Even if I haven't had water for a while I have to use the washroom frequently. Another thing is that I'm having a bunch of foot problems. For example, I have a small bruise and a cut on the top of my foot and I didn't notice it until I examined my feet. Also, I notice that I'll be walking around and then suddenly my entire foot will just start burning with pain and it gives out on me. Also, I can sometimes be very cranky for no reason and I'm pretty tired a lot of the time.
I've also got another question, I checked my blood 4 times and this is what I got, 111.6, 117.6, 123.1, 161.8. What does this mean? I checked these 5 or 6 hours after I ate in case that helps.

Not sure if those are high or low blood sugar readings, it's a different scale to what I've seen people talk about before. What are the units your meter uses?

Those symptoms are common with untreated diabetes (tiredness, thirst), so do make a doctor's appointment to talk it over. Make sure to mention the foot problems too, in case it is nerve problems.

Hi superbrunettecutie,

Some of those figures are a little high for 5-6 hours after a meal.

Best make an appointment to see your doctor if it's worrying you.

Good luck,
timo.

The convesion factor from mg/dl to mmol.l is 18. I did a rough conversion and all those are a little high for 5 hours fasting. See your doctor! do mention your feet.

alright I'll go asap. But, there is a little bit of a problem with the see your doctor thing. My mom is in the hospital to get some tests done and my grandparents are taking care of me for the 2 weeks she's away. So, what do you think I should do? Because my grandparents are the old fashioned only go to the doctor if you're dying type. So, should I get them to take me to the doctor any ways or just go without them?

At the risk of sounding blunt, you must go, and sooner rather than later. You obviously have concerns and your readings are a tad high, it is the best way to find out or to put your mind at rest.

We'll be around :) and here's hoping.

In case you haven't yet got around to having a test done, superbrunettecutie, please be aware that you have diabetes - and need urgent treatment. The foot problem you describe (paresthesia) is a common diabetic complication. Your untreated high sugar levels mean that any cuts and bruises on your feet are far more likely to become infected.

Get to a hospital emergency facility. Now.

Terry,

We're not allowed to diagnose on this forum - for obvious reasons - the advice you have given is sound, and hopefully superbrunettecutie followed the advice given.

Regards, Tubs.
