Hi all I need a bit of help. I have been on a basal bolus for a 2 months now and everything has been going fine up to now. I had worked out that my ratio was about 1:14 and this coupled with my basal of 10 lantus had been working fine. Yesterday though I was fighting lows all day topped off with a lovely 1.8 mid afternoon. I thought this might be just due to the fact that I was doing a bit of work around the house and hadn't eaten as I normally would. But today the same got up had my breakfast took my 2 units of nova rapid as normal. Hour and a half later I have a 2.9. I don't really know what's causing these lows as I had been pretty stable and reliable up to now. Has anyone got any advice.
Hi @colsal, you are experiencing the variability of T1 I'm afraid. Whilst it might seem stable for a while, for no apparent reason it can go off kilter and you have to start again.
At what time of day do you take your Lantus? Based on your hypo timing I'm going to guess it is when you get up?
Hi Tim2000s. I take my Lantus astound 10 at night. It's really strange it's like overnight I have become more sensitive to the insulin. Will I need to review my basal dose and maybe reduce it a bit.
Because it's early days I imagine your body has suddenly kicked in with making more of it's own insulin, I experienced a very similar thing. You should definitely speak to your team about adjusting your insulin.

Exactly. And if you have lowered your carbs you will need to reduce insulins. Sometimes after we remove certain food or change our diet we become more insulin sensative. Or it could be the honeymoon phase as your pancreas doesn't need to work as hard with the additional insulin.
