What's the best way to diet but not be hungry?

I'm a big eater and I love my food.
My belly is getting bigger though and it's doing my head right in!

I'm very good at eating salads and other foods, however.....

If I'm training as well as eating healthy and cutting the carbs out or down, what foods make you feel full without being bad for the diet?

I've been told beans and pulses? What are beans and pulses?
How do you honestly make a tasty meal out of beans and pulses and actually want to eat more the next day?

Any help is appreciated, I love spicy food

So reading this what you want to do is to eat to your fill and lose weight. To do this you need to keep your bodies insulin levels low to stop the fat storage. I think the easiest way to do this is to eat fat and very little carbs. It isnt the only option but it might be the easiest. Try and replace starchy food with green veg.

@GordonMcLean to learn more about the low carbohydrate high (healthy) fat (LCHF) diet, go here... http://www.dietdoctor.com/lchf

I've been on the LCHF diet for a year - (I crossed over into type 2 diabetes 10 years ago). Last A1c was 5.4%, all health markers significantly improved on this diet.

If you prefer to do a whole foods, plant based diet, I know of two books written on this way of eating for type 2 diabetics, one by Neal Barnard, MD, the other by Joel Fuhrman, MD. Look for them on Amazon. Good luck to you. :)

Meant to say, although mentioning my pump probably gave it away, I'm a type 1 diabetic and answers from type 1's are probably going to be more helpful to me.
Thanks again though people

Well no mention of pumps in this thread and if you want to have just T1s reply I can move this thread to the T1 section for you.

It could probably be helpful, on an ongoing basis if you might update your profile to show your T1 status. That would help avoid any further confusion.
