Whats the first record/CD you bought ?

Agree with the comments that this is a great thread

So, who still has their vinyl collection, mine are stored away in the loft, no longer own a record player.

In the attic, along with some first off the press UB40 and The Beat versions. that I'll never part with

Good stuff, hang on to them.

I have some nice picture discs that might be worth money one day, my kids will benefit from them when I'm long gone.

As has been said Robin such a wonderful thread it's brought back so many good memories and I've got lots of the songs/tunes playing in my mind, Thanks, cheered me up loads

Oh I forgot about those! Yes! I have some of those, Bob Marley and David Bowie are the only ones I can remember. They were brilliant!

I've got one by Bowie, it's the song Sound & Vision and the lad I bought it off at the time said it was a limited edition, got a few others by Iron Maiden & Meatloaf although I expect they won't be worth much.

I have Lee Dorsey's Working in a coal mine on vinyl. Not many vinyl's though, as I thought I had more. My teenager was left Beatles LP's from her dad, the older daughter has them in her loft and my teenager can't have them until she's 18 !!
Apparently they are worth money. I do hope she gets them in good order and no damage happens to them in mean time She does like the Beatles

Music like the Beatles will never die, its timeless.

We've just got another turntable as the old one gave up the ghost. John Lewis about £70. Going to order Mr Chris the new Pink Yawn (sorry Floyd) on vinyl for anniversary pressie. Method in my madness - if I buy it on vinyl he can't put it on the cd player in the car and I can't put it on my i pod in the car. No point getting old if you don't get crafty

Iat the risk of sounding sexist, Pink Floyd is a male thing. I dare say I'll get loads of replies telling me that that is not the case but I don't have any female friends who like them either! We struggle with car music too as Mr Scandi doesn't like my music or is left cold by it. Too bad we have girls who like boy bands and ABBA . The youngest loves Aqua! He was obviously evil in a former life!

@Scandichic - I love Pink Floyd! So you do have a female friend who likes them

Morning Zand! What about Florence and the Machine, Kate Bush, Björk, the Beatles, Abba, Bryan Adams, Paloma Faith, the darkness? To name but a few! I love songs not musicians.
