I have T2 for the last 16 years, glucose poorly controlled, no complications so far. I decided to take control and try low carb diet.1 month ago. Initially results were good but the past two mornings my fasting gloucose has been through the roof i.e. 11.5 I am currently taking Glimipridie,Metformin and Januvia. I have not been cheating in fact quite the opposite, I have lost no weight and an getting quite depressed over this. What is the point. any advice would be appreciated

Are you low carb, or low carb high fat?
I find fat doesn't help my weight.

It's not necessarily a trend downwards, 2 days disappointing results aren't the end of the world - you should persevere and also consider it's about your average - I believe that high glucose in the morning is usually due to a 'Liver dump' where your liver creates glucose from stores to wake you up or because your blood sugar is too low. I'm not an expert in this, but many here are far more experienced and I'm sure they'll wade in with help about that.

You've perhaps set your expectations too high - this isn't an instant cure in any way, but it's certainly helped me and many others here within a few months. I've taken the view that at first results will vary, but to ignore for now the ones that are out of my control (like this) and focus on what is in my control - my diet and test against what I eat.

I'd certainly say persevere until your next HbA1c test, that's the ultimate test really, your hour to hour BG will vary, but will be lower on average.

AS for your weight, it's hard to say why it's not reducing, you'd have to give a bit more info - are you reducing the amount you eat - using the 'diabetic plate' for example - perhaps give us a daily breakdown of your last couple of day's meals?
