cruelty to any animal or human, not being able to eat sausage rolls and pies any more,
For the last few days I have had quite high readings of 12.7, 12.3, 11.9 my lowest reading has been 7.2 which was a fasting one, and other readings of around about the 8's, I have been ultra careful in what I have been eating, mainly salads and hardly any bread in the last 3 days, also I have had the most horrendous headache for two days now, keep taking painkiller ie paracetomol or ibuprofen but nothing is shifting it, what am I doing wrong and why are my readings going up instead of down.

If you are feeling unwell then you levels can rise as your body fights off what ever bug you've got. Likewise stress can raise levels as well so worrying about high readings can just make them worse. When similar things happen to me I tend to stop taking readings for a day and maybe try and unwind by taking a nice bath and have a glass of wine or something in the evening. If your headache doesn't go then you should go see the doc.

Yeah been there Alison with readings like that and headaches. I put it down to stress and I have no clever answers. I find exercise de-stresses me and can bring my count down again.

I would advise seeing the doctor.

As previous posts, if you've got a bug it will raise your levels a bit. Are you drinking enough? No - not beer! Are you taking in enough fluids like water, tea etc. If you are getting dehydrated that will cause a headache. Also continually taking painkillers will sometimes give you a "rebound" effect i.e. the more you take the headache returns. I would def get it checked out with your GP or nurse if it doesn't clear up.
