When do you think Libre 3 will be available for UK self-funders?

The Libre 3 has been available for a while now in a number of countries, but how much longer do you think it'll be before it's available in the UK for self-funders?

I read, in another Libre 3 thread, someone suggesting that they 'sense a long wait for self funders, like it was for Libre 2'.
What actually happened when Libre 2 launched in the UK? Did the NHS get it first and then self-funders have to wait a long time for it to be on sale?

Hi,

My experience with the L2 whilst self funding in the UK & keeping an eye on the Abbott site. Was there was no real fan fair..? (In spite of the anticipation from various vloggers online..)
I sourced my libres at the time from my local Asda pharmacy registered VAT exempt. Upon restocking, I was offered the choice of L2 by the chemist. That was the first I heard they could be obtained in this region.

When I finally got NHS funding. I was prescribed the L2 kits.

lol, it took me a fair while with the new algorithm set up to accommodate the firmware on my smartwatch with the L2. So I’m not in any hurry to be doing all that again with the L3, soon…

Annoyingly, I spoke with my pharmacist who said that they’ve only just got the freestyle libre 2 coming in on prescriptions and they don’t know how long it will be until the 3 will be out in the uk readily available but there isn’t much difference…. Looks like I’ll be waiting a while then

As there is still no link up with I phones and there will be no reader, I think it unlikely it will be any time soon. As for NHS I cannot see then adopting generally, if it requires you to use a phone. It would not be on an equal footing for all.

It is a shame as it was so so tiny and lightweight. Although wearing one on each arm for the trial I took part in I honestly didn’t know they were there.
