When will I feel a little better?

Hello folks
I am diagnosed type 2 and have started metformin and statins. I have been taking 1 500 mg with breakfast once a day for 2 weeks and have now started on 2 per day for last 4 days for 14 days and prescribed 3 per day starting week 5. How long before my sugar levels return to near normal and I start to feel better?

Hi Sue
Thank you very much for your reply
My blood suger when tested 3 weeks ago by specialist nurse was .27 and glucose urine was between 5 and 6 (brown) on testing kit. The day after these results I started on 2 weeks Metformin at 1 per day and have now started 2 per day for the past 4 days. I have to take these for 2 weeks and then start on 3 per day on a regular basis. Is it going to be a long time before my levels go down to near normal.(I am 62 years old and have been on diet for 3 months. Weight reduced from 14 stone down to 12 twelve stone. Height is 5ft 8ins tall.
Thanks for your time and look forward to your reply
Kind regards
John

john - are u doing your blood sugars because apart from having the same symptoms u cannot tell what your blood sugar is?

Did they send you to see a dietitian?

TBH John that doesnt sound like a dietitian - u sure it wasnt the practice nurse. Dont worry I get called alll sorts!

I take it from your reply ,John, that she did not give you a blood testing kit.Urine testing only tells you you have sugar in your urine! Blood testing can tell you if your sugars are coming down and if what you are eating is sending your sugars up.The best way of getting your blood sugar level down is to eat less carbohydrate. This also helps you lose weight which in turn helps the blood sugars come down.Confused?? Don't worry, it will all come together shortly!

Hi Sue
your info is really very helpfull to me. I thought that the high urine glucose level told the full story of my level of diabetes and made me panic a little when it remained so high!!.Thank you, I have an appointment with doctor in 1 week and will discuss the full picture.
Kind regards
John

Try and get a blood testing kit,John. It really does help in the battle to get your sugars down, that and low carb and exercise.
