Hi
@saucysoggy ,
I'm sorry to say, every country has its issues. I mean, I'm from the Netherlands, and we're dealing with medication shortages, long waiting lists, overtaxed GP's practices and such too. And we're nowhere near as "tolerant" as we'd like to think. (Just the mere term
tolerant rubs me the wrong way to begin with, because it implies that there's something wrong to condone, where there's nothing wrong to begin with.) But since Covid especially, it seems like people are just looking for an excuse to be aggressive to someone, and any excuse will do. Like kissing a same-sex partner in the street. Polarisation seems to be everywhere, alas.
Personally, I'd say, try Canada. There's probably enough wrong there too, but I was very happy there once upon a time, and it shouldn't be too much of a culture shock to just add "Eh?" to the end of every sentence.
This probably is completely insane of me to suggest, but these two ladies, one Canadian, one American, are now living in Canada. Not diabetic far as I know, but there are health issues, so they'd be familiar with what that's like in the North as well. I think they
might be willing to answer questions, if you have them. (They just seem like very, very nice people, so they might.)
https://www.facebook.com/georgemaxandlando <-- George, Max and Lando are their cats. Don't be put off by the name of their page, which contains a little profanity; I swear it's not kink. Just cats.
No idea if this helps, but... Best I can come up with right now. Hope you find some place where you both can be happy, healthy and safe.
Hugs,
Jo
