Hi
I have seen whey protein mentioned in some low carb recipes and wonder what it actually does and where can I buy it
Also various flours like Almond, Soy, and Coconut etc supposed to be good low carb but I have never seen any of these in the normal shops so are they only available in specialist shops.
I am anxious to find a recipe for a low carb bread for my breadmaker so would be grateful for any suggestions

Try Lowcarbmegastore. Whey protein can be bought from Myprotein. It can be used to make pancakes. The flour can usually be found in Holland and Barretts. You can Google low carb recipes, loads on the web. Tesco sell coconut oil. Its a solid, but can be cooked with and also added to coffee.

Is it the same as the Whey Protein that body builders use that can be bought in Holland and Barret...and is the flour a different thing altogether

hi, almond flour or powder from supermarket or indian shops, coconut flour holland and barret, soy flour holland and barret same for whey protein, the vanilla is nicest but get plain too for some recipes, get some flax too or golden linseed, its in alot of bread recipes.

I've managed to find almond flour in Sainsbury's and Morrisons near me. It's a bit more pricey in Holland and Barrets, and tends to be much cheaper if you buy large amounts online.

Myprotein sell really reasonable whey. H&B tends to be expensive for that.

Thanks for the replies I have bought Whey protein but so far have not been able to find Almond or any other types of flour you all mention. . Been to all the supermarkets and a couple of H&B's...they had soya flour but thats all...Indian shops no luck there.
The Indian shops do lots of different kinds of flour so wondered what bread would be like using some of those but of course not sure what they are like for carbs...pototo flour, gram flour, cornmeal, semolina etc

Almond flour is just ground almonds.
