Hi,
Can I ask which yoghurts you eat?
I was diagnosed as type 2 in Oct last year, just had my first check up and my blood results are now in the “normal range”, I have been eating low carb and generally have an omelette for breakfast, occasionally 1 slice of Hovis low carb whole meal toast. I see that lots of people eat yoghurt with berries for breakfast, I used to enjoy yoghurt but haven’t had it since my diagnosis and was wondering which ones you eat, they all seem to have what I would consider a fairly high carb count for such a small amount.

I eat Full fat Greek Yoghurt - normally Tesco or Sainsbury's. its about 4g per 100.
Normally with Berries.

I eat a full fat natural bio yoghurt it is 7g per 100g carbs it is a local one called Lancashire Farms but I am sure that you can find similar I like this one because they use milk from cows that graze

I eat Fage Total (full fat Greek) with raspberries. However, I only eat it as a dessert after evening meal. It is a no-no for me at breakfast time.

Thank you

For breakfast I sometimes have scrambled eggs (2 x), a know of butter with cheese and spring onion. This is great s I can use the microwave to scramble the eggs and butter and then throw the cheese and spring onion over the top. It comes in under 4g - dependant on how much spring onion I use. Sometimes I go "crazy" and add in ham

I eat Tesco unsweetened Soya yogurt because I’m lactose intolerant. The other soya yogurts gave sugar inside even the plain ones.

My kind of breakfast too

I've never been a yogurt fan, but one of my fave, fave treats is some frozen berries (Tesco has loads of varieties, often on offer) in a bowl with double cream poured over the top and then frantically stirred for a moment. It makes a kind of super-delicious ice-cream thingy; if you can wait a bit longer for a little thaw to set in, it gets to a yogurt consistency.

Could also work with @therower 's healthier creme fraiche (though you need a little fat content if its not to freeze instantly into a solid lump)

Sounds lovely, I will have to try it

I don't do the early breakfast thing but I eat brunch any time from 10.30 to 1 pm when I'm hungry, then I have a full cooked breakfast 1 poached egg 2 rashers smoked bacon mushrooms 1 slice wholemeal toast best butter, and sometimes I add a bratwurst sausage or a slice black pudding it keeps my BG fine! K
Fruit and cream or Creme fraise I keep for after evening Meal if I want something extra!

Can i just say - not for the first time, but certainly for the first time in a while - how lovely it is to be in a place where I can write "pour some double cream over the top" and no-one tries to lynch/lecture/re-educate me!

I foolishly mentioned protein and fats to my new DN last week and she (tricksy as she is) asked me what specifically I'd be replacing my carbs with (I wanted to reply, "Nothing - I'll just eat less" but didn't want to start a Whole Other Thing). Instead, foolishly, I said I'd increase my dairy and protein intake slightly until I felt more settled and... well, The Dairy Lecture was mine to enjoy for 15 minutes.

So, yeah. pour some cream over that frozen fruit - and b****y well enjoy it!

I hadn’t considered black pudding, I thought that might be a no, so didn’t look at the carb values, nice to know that can come back on my plate

Hi @jayney27 everyone is different what spikes one person is ok for others just test before and after you've tried it,depending on what I have on my plate black pudding has on occasions raised my BG I try and compromise by lowering carbs on my plate, so if I have black pudding and my BG test before was higher than I like I either miss out the toast and have black pudding or other way round. It's how you find your own body works we are all different! K Test test test that's the best advice I can give you! K

My DN is fascinated with how I've regained full control of my BG and lost 4 1/2 stone in weight so I tell her LCHF now even my doctor has stopped pushing for me to take statins, my review last week was normal on everything even with eating high fats and lower carbs. This is my life my body and I'm in control for the first time in my diabetic life which is now 17 years so you know what to hoots with NHS recommendations, and I agree with you have your full fats and enjoy them! K
