Who are they?

Got him. Jacques Tati.

Yes - if you've never seen Jour de Fetes, M Hulot's Holiday or Mon Oncle, try and see them.

Well done Zolabud - just before Crimsonclient - and your prize is a tennis lesson from M Hulot.

Never thought I would get that one.....

American actor. Hope we haven't had this one before.

Had a long and varied film career. Culminating in his first Technicolour film for which he won his first Academy award. Married unhappily twice and he 3rd wife co starred with him in quite a few films. He was 44 and she was 19 when they met, and they had 2 children

Here is a hangman of my most favourite film he starred in. The first Technicolour film he made and for which he won his first Academy award.

Humphrey Bogart (The African Queen) - it was the reference to the young Lauren Bacall that did it.

Yep.You're right Sanguine.Humphrey it is. Well done.

Golden Beach for Sanguine for guessing Humphrey Bogard on 11th August 2014.

Multi award winning English author

The Wiki list is endless....

Any chance of the subject of his books Sanguine ??

Some fairly dark books on relationships some made into films, difficult to say more without giving the game away. So I'll be cryptic - one of his early books/films had the word 'garden' in the title; a mid-period book was the name of a European city; and a recent one was named after a geographical feature on the south coast.

I'm off out now for 3 hours or so, so if you get it carry on without me!

No, not Orwell. Hangman on two recent film adaptations of his books (different books from the three alluded to earlier).
