Whoa..You Smashed It

Type of diabetes
I reversed my Type 2
Treatment type
Tablets (oral)
It's not a big deal for anyone else but I wanted to share what one of our doctors said to me yesterday.

I had to go to have an abscess treated and while I was there I thought I'd ask him if I was the only person who'd reversed Type 2 Diabetes at our particular surgery. He said I wasn't and that he couldn't give names, (understandably), and he also didn't tell me how they'd done it. I know that Bariatric Surgery can have an impact on some individuals and a doctor I saw last year asked if that is how I'd lost the weight and reversed my Type 2 Diabetes.

I felt a little deflated, (I know there's no room for egos but I'm super proud of what I've achieved in the last two and a half years). While he was saying this to me, he brought up my notes on the computer and I believe his words were.."Whoa, you smashed it!". I admit to floating out of the room rather smug and full of self-importance. I took the compliment and ran with it. It was nice to know others have achieved it too and it doesn't detract from what I've done. I've said this before but thank you to all of you on here and for the advice and knowledge that you give. It's an invaluable tool and keeps me going xx.

That is fab. It is always very hard to do the hard work and for people to not notice, or not realise.
Good for that doc for giving praise where praise is due.

Nice acknowledgement from the profession who rarely give it.. sounds like you have a half decent GP.

And well done you too for doing it of course!

Nice one @Aldebaran! It's always good to get recognition of your achievement. :)
Thank you Prem51. It is good to get feedback and the pleasant reactions from the doctors and medical team.

Thanks Brunneria. Sadly many with Diabetes battle against their own medical teams whether it's because of diet or being judged wrongly. I'm more than pleased that our own doctors and staff make you feel good when you've done something positive.

Thanks bulkbiker. I know I don't come here often and contribute but I'll admit that my own personal knowledge of Diabetes, as a whole, would fit onto the back of a postcard. I've learned a lot but can't give much advice. I hope that my posts encourage others or at least keep them going as it can be tough. We're very lucky to have the medical team we have and I for one am very grateful for them.

Yes it does seem common knowledge amongst the medical world that reducing calories by an operation support like many of the bariatric operations or clinical support via ND or an excellent forum.
It sounds like the nhs dieticians use carbs and cals book as a reference book. A great tool. :)
