Type 1 Whole Grains

Hi Tim and welcome to the forum :)

I see that you state you have type 1 diabetes, provided you carb count and match your insulin to suit there's no reason why you can't eat wholegrain foods, but it's sensible to keep the portion size down and test your postprandial bg levels to see what effect they have, many of us find that pre-bolusing 15-30mins before eating helps reduce postprandial spikes.

Every person's system has a different reaction only way to know is test before and 2 hours and perhaps 3, hours after. The carbs in whole grains are slower to hit the system but are still carbs. Also be aware similarly labeled products by manufacturers can have a very different impact on you blood glucose level.
