Why am I high in the morning?

I take 4 units of levemir at morning and before bed. For a number of days now I have been waking up with a bg level of over 10 even though before bedtime I have been 4/5. Last night however I was 13 before bed so I took my levemir and 2 corrective units of my novorapid but still woke up with a bg level of 10? Does anyone have any ideas why this is happening. My levemir dosage has been fine and controlled my levels overnight but somehow it's all over the place now?

Needing only 4 units of Levemir implies that you're newly diagnosed and still in the honeymoon phase. It would be highly unlikely (I'd dare to say impossible) for someone with no natural insulin production to need that little insulin.

If that's the case then it's very possible that your pancreas is producing less insulin which will require you to inject more insult. In short, what was working before may not be working now.
