So in the last few months I started (for the first time) checking my fasting blood glucose numbers. They were coming in at pre diabetes range. I am 30 lbs overweight. I quickly started on a low cal/low carb diet only to see my glucose readings increase significantly. Can anyone explain this? I can't imagine I would switch into diabetes in a matter of two weeks. I just don't under stand how they could go up when I am low carbing it and eating the right foods.

I dont really know but maybe you could be getting a liver dump because you are eating less and your liver thinks you are starving You could try researching liver dump or dawn phenominum (ok so thats not how to spell it)?

You're starting to use your stored glucose.
When you have a deficit of carbs/calories, your body starts to use easy to get to glucose, stored in water in the tissue cells. Then you'll start to convert fat.
(usually a good initial weight loss, as the water goes, then a slower steady weight loss as the fat gets used)

It'll go down again as you adjust.
But expect it to take a while to stabilise after any change of diet.

My bs has got a lot better now I have lost 3 stone, and I eat a lot loss overall now, so you're doing well, keep at it.
