Why can't I get any blood out of my fingers?

:chicken:

I warned hubby today that we must never, ever risk running out of eggs again lol

Silly/ newbie question(s)

1 I often wake at around 6, go for a wee and then back to sleep for a few hours. Can I test when I wake up the second time or is it too late?

2 I know I'm supposed to test before I eat or drink anything but I can't get a decent blood drop when dehydrated. Is it ok to drink water?

3 I'm trying not to snack before bed but it's going to happen sometimes. Does it matter if I haven't fasted for the full 8 hours?

Going to try testing tomorrow fingers crossed...

It's getting better, I've done a test myself with minimal assistance and even better, the numbers are slightly lower each time

07:00 Took 40mg gliclazide with food (fried eggs)
14:30 BG 15.3
17:45 BG 15.1
18:15 Took 40mg gliclazide with meal (frittata, ~20g carbs)
20:00 BG 10.9
21:45 BG 8.8

Need to do some more research but this seems encouraging

Hoping to do one more test tonight after a rehydrating cuppa!

Well done, that's really positive. As you've found out hydration is so important to getting blood. Onwards and upwards (well, downwards for your numbers)!

Hydration is good for so much more than blood tests..skin, weight loss, energy, mental health.
Do keep it up.

Thanks!

I got told off a few years ago by a nurse at the incontinence clinic for "drinking too much". Couldn't make it up. My poor kidneys would have packed up by now if I'd listened to her.
