Why did my blood sugar rise

Hi :) Before bed last night i was 6.9 and i had my lantus insulin and when i woke up today i was 5.9 and I thought i would wait an hour or so before eating anything and having any humalog insulin and when I tested again i was 13.9 I dont get why i have gone from 5.9 to 13.9 in about an hour or so without having any food

What you have experienced is your liver dumping glucose to prepare you for the morning ahead, I overcome this by eating within 20 minutes of waking which seems to do the trick.

it's called "the dawn phenomenon" if you want to google it or search for others talking about it on here. It's normal and nothing to worry about - you just need to whack in some insulin or eat soon after getting up, like noblehead said.
