Choccies win!!!! Those alternative prizes would not light my lightbulb. Perhaps a bottle of whiskyMake people aware of diabetes, yes and this has been on the forum before, with many, but not all, complaining about the 'sweet content' of raffles, especially as diabetes type 2 is an epidemic and is so often in the media.
I find it quite farcical, surely there must be other alternatives? possibly gift vouchers, book tokens, a session in the Gym, money off vouchers for in store goods in a local Tesco branch ??
If its only some, then it reduces the potential audience. Choccies win againI don't go to the Gym, but it would appeal to some.........................

I am going to try and contact the former employee who went off to work for DUK's partnership team, if I can do so I'll post any response here.
Thank god we're all different.
Nice handbag would do it for me! Mind u raffle ticket price would have to reflect.
I read somewhere women spend more money then men.
Interesting?
When someone runs a raffle the prizes have to be what the majority of people want to win otherwise they will not buy tickets and the most popular prizes are chocolates alcohol and yes a large hamper of sweet goodies. They need to attract the general public and encourage them to buy the tickets with prizes that will appeal to them. I do not think the raffles are about educating the population about diabetes it is purely about raising money for diabetic research etc and that has to be good I did buy a ticket when my local Tesco had a diabetes raffle had I won which I didn't I could soon have found someone who would have liked it

Yes, I do agree in raising money for diabetes awareness, I'm sure most people do. I just don't agree with the way it's done
Tesco and it's fund raising has been on the forum a few times, it's still the same and will probably never actually change.
Would you rather they withdrew their support entirely? Who will replace the lost funds?Yes, I do agree in raising money for diabetes awareness, I'm sure most people do. I just don't agree with the way it's done

People who smoke?
So, I guess in context, you're arguing we should be buying tickets, but no one else should?
Would it help if they raffle only 85% dark chocolate?
Reductio ad absurdum, [Sic]The context I am highlighting is the logical chain:
Cigarettes cause cancer.
We campaign against smoking and all other causes of cancer.
Hang on, although we believe that smoking is a killer we can make some quick cash by selling fags in a raffle. Oh, forget our principles, we are talking money here. What if they die? Gimme the cash!
O.K., let's try

Guns in Bars? What Could Go Wrong?
"
Should they sell guns (quite possibly in bars) to fund their anti-gun campaign?
