Why does everything good have sugar and carbs

I'm sitting here watching some TV looking after our new 17 day old baby and sipping on some Chianti, I just did a trip to the kitchen for a late night snakky, a year ago I would have made some toast, caned a packet of choc digestives or had some crunchy nut cornflakes and instead I'm sitting here still hungry because I've had a good BS day and don't want to ruin it or tomorrow.

Why does everything that really hits the spot have to be loaded with sugar and carbs

I used to do that too. I'd get home from work and have a bowl of cereal with extra sugar added, toast and jam, or a sandwich. But you don't have to eat nothing! Have something low carb. Cheese, tree nuts, eggs, things like that. Now when I get home I have some cheese and liver pate. After cutting out the carbs, the sugar and bread cravings magically disappear, but you can't starve yourself or they won't.

I had cheese, salmon, salami and crackers after dinner tonight so that's off

In not starving by any means I've just got that bad munchie thing going on ( no ive not smoked any weed but it's a craving like that

I've been eating beef jerky as a snack but I'm running out and the only stuff they sell in the UK is the minging jack links one

Liver is my worst nightmare of food, it really is one of the worst tasting things .

I'm not weird with food either I'll eat almost anything but liver just tastes cack.

I'm wondering if the carbs in the crackers have set you off, but that doesn't sound like a lot of carbs

I don't like liver as well, but for some odd reason I like liver pate. Maybe it's the added spices.

Anyway, the only suggestion I can think of is get a variety of low carb food om hand to snack on.

There are a bunch of ideas here: http://lowcarbdiets.about.com/od/whattoeat/a/snacks.htm

It's because the food industry find sugar and carb loaded foods are very profitable and adictive. We have all been conned by packets that proclaim they are full of vitamins, calcium etc which are of much lower significance. These companies provide a lot of research funding to university diet and food trials which result in obvious bias. We have to be a lot more selective in the marketing hype we follow. If we vote with our feet when we shop eventually the supermarkets will reduce the shelf space allocated to junk food and drink.

I have never been a snacker 3 meals a day is mostly enough for me but if I do on occasion have anything at all it is usually just some nuts or cheese

Brunneria Your world must be a rocky place, with all that lot. "That pate stuff made with diced olives" - Is that tapenade?

I'm not a great snacker either, but some of those things Brunneria posted are making my mouth water. Perhaps I'll have breakfast instead!!

Yes! Tapenade!

And the joy of most of them is that a small amount is very satisfying. Something I never experienced with biscuits. Or toast...

Are you suggesting that scientists only find what you pay them to find ? Surely not

Let's just say some not all. I do environmental science work for oil companies and they most assuredly get what I find, good or bad, regardless of what they pay me.
