Why does my blood sugar rise even if I haven't eaten?

I have gallstones and after vomiting last night, I haven't been able to eat today, but my blood sugar has been rising over the last few hours. Does anyone know why it does this?

It's natural for your body to give you a boost, if you don't eat.

Hope you are feeling better. And do try to get something down!

Make sure you hydrate!

It's likely glucagon being produced by your liver that's raising your blood sugars. Do keep an eye on them while you're sick, and hopefully you'll feel better soon.

Your liver will dump glucose if you haven't eaten for a while so don't worry about it too much just focus on getting better.
