Why I love Dr Jason Fung

Doesn't really take a genius to figure out though does it.

A well balanced diet, sensible portions and daily exercise and your golden.

I'm reading Jason Fung's Obesity 101 at the moment. I can highly recommend it. As my morning readings (not the fasting one, but before and after breakfast) are still a little high I'm considering intermittent fasting in the morning.

Except that is ONLY true when you have the correct amount of insulin on board.

If someone has a well functioning endocrine system, including a well honed insulin 'process', then yes, a well balanced diet, sensible portions and daily exercise, and you are golden.

But if you have a wonky insulin process it all goes pearshaped. Appetite. Energy levels. Fat storage.
Not enough insulin = T1/LADA, thirst, weight loss.
Too much insulin = T2, hunger, weight gain...

Well you need to define a well balanced diet first... Something that the NHS seems not very good at.

He might have very interesting things to say, right. But he kept on saying right all the time, right. That really bothered me! right!

I must admit you are right, right?, I'm currently transcribing a podcast with him on it and editing out the rights is taking an age. However all his other words are great so I forgive him the odd verbal tic.

A great idea.. Just miss breakfast every day .. have a tea or coffee instead. That's what I did from diagnosis onwards. Seems to have helped.. that and very low carb.
