Why no Diabetes type 3B in the account setup?

Hi all.
As a newly-diagnosed diabetic with a needle phobia (argh!), it came as a major shock to be diagnosed as Diabetes type 3B which is apparently diabetes arising from pancreatic disorders (which I had last year - pancreatitis from simply drinking too much!)

The drop-down options only gave me type 3C and type 3 only.
Admittedly, I only knew of types 1 and 2 before my diagnosis, but can somebody please explain the discrepancy in options?

Are you sure you don't have type 3C?
I've never heard of T3B, but this is what I could find on it, and what you describe sounds like T3C, not 3B.

Type 3b diabetes​

Type 3b is any form of diabetes caused by genetic defects that affect the action of insulin.

Type 3c diabetes​

Type 3c diabetes, also known as ‘pancreatogenic diabetes’, is a form of secondary diabetes, that may occur as a result of the pancreatic disorders such as pancreatitis, cystic fibrosis, hemochromatosis, pancreatic cancer, pancreatomy and some neonatal diabetic cases caused by pancreatic agenesis.

But to better answer your question.
In this forum ’cross posting of different types of diabetes can sometimes cause confusion, and is closely moderated. This can discourage members from posting in a thread someone with a different type of diabetes’

Thus if there was something for 3B then you would probably end up just posting to yourself!

My understanding is that the category Type 3 in this forum is meant as a catch-all for diabetes caused by an insulin problem which is not Type 3C. E.G. 3B, 3D, 3E, 3F, 3G or 3H.

You're probably right and it's type 3C, arising from earlier pancreatitus and damage to my pancreas last year.
Unfortunately not diagnosed for 18 month or more since then! :-(
I was just going by what the hospital release said (type 3B) but I definitely don't have Alzeimers or any known genetic defects?!

Undoubtedly, whichever type you are, these early days can be confusing. Just take it steady.

Whilst there may be fewer Type 3c, so other Type 3 subtypes there are thousands of years of lived experiences here, and those people, even if not an absolute match to you, are keen to make your early days less uncomfortable than their own.
