Why potassium and magnesium?

Thinking about link between
Potassium / Glucose / Insulin

I pay a lot of attention to Potassium intake with endurance exercise more than sodium.

Question I ask myself is a high blood potassium level a early sign of LADA / Type 1.5 (not enough Insulin as potassium cannot get into cells ) I am no expert I was Just thinking.
 
Sorry for digging up an old thread, but isn't there an issue with type 2 and possibly type 1 with removing sodium ? would this lead to lower potassium as when one is high the other is low ?
