Wish I hadn't had the Flu Jab

For the last two years I have had the flu jab as advised by my doctor. I'm type 2 and thought I should just go along with docs advice but both years a week after having it I developed a very bad cough which developed into a chest infection which I couldn't shake off without anti botics. First time round I didn't make the conection but it's happened again this year. I'm worried because I have worked hard to get my HBa1c down to 6.2 from 6.9 and 7.2 prevously and since being on the antibiotics my BG readings are much higher than normal. It's hard to work out exactly how much they have affected me because I've also just switched to slow release metformin (twice a day, plus Sitagliptin). I just wondered if anyone else has had a similar thing happen. My doc sad I should have the flu jab earlier next year before the cold and flu season starts, I think I'll actually give it a miss altogether.

I have had a bad reaction to the flu jab for the last two years because it contained the same components and obviously they did not agree wwwwith me. There were a couple of threads on here about it.
Very few people seemed to have been affected but I was one of them. I have never had a reaction to the flu jab or any other vaccine previously. I made the decision to have it again this year although I knew there was athe great likelihood of a bad reacion because I thought that caching flu was potentially worse and I had o atend the hospital regularly.

It is quite probable that next years vacccine will be totally ifferent and I will suffer no side effects.

Yes antibiotics will afffec yur levels but so will flu and any other virus.
Sitagliptin can cause respiratory symptoms.

There are no easy answers.
Last year the invaluable catherinecherub found a link to information about the components of the vaccine. If you find this information this year i may help to make up your mind.

Some people are against vacccines on principle. Others are anxious about spreading the virus to others.
Iys an individual choice You may be at low risk because of your lifestyle etc and the vaccine may be
more dangerous to you than the risk of flu. Your Go is bound to try to convince you to have it.
