Wondering what I'm experiencing?

As I'm looking to lose weight I seldom go over 20g carbs a day. I've been pretty steady for the past 4 months with carbs at this level. Normally my morning BG has been around the 6.2 mark, except for the past couple of weeks where my so called dawn phenomenon has dropped to daytime levels of around 5.5.

Yesterday the DP reading was 5.2 at 6.30am. I don't normally consume anything until 10.30am (trying to keep a small eating window) except for sipping a couple glasses of carbonated water. Around the 10.30am mark I started to get a headache, felt weird and my eyesight became rather blurred. I checked my BG twice and it was 6.7. After eating bacon, an egg and mushrooms I forgot about the incident and my bg level returned to 5.7.

This isn't the first time this has happened, though at the time I didn't check my BG as I just assumed it was down.

I'm not too worried, but it would be great to try and understand what's going on?

Would really appreciate any thoughts. Thank you.

It could be you are going lower than your body is used to and it’s giving you hypo feelings, though as you are diet only I very much doubt it’s a true hypo, your liver is recognising this and dumping glucose to rectify it, so it’s doing it’s job, When you’re testing you may already be on the way back up hence the higher than expected reading. Then you give your body food and your liver goes oh “ok then I’m not needed now crisis averted” and your numbers drop again.

This happens to me if I go too long without food and have a more active day than usual

I agree with @lovinglife.
I would add that because of the longevity of low carb readings around normal. Any rise or drop may give you a sensitivity to the rise or fall. And the symptoms are telling you to correct it. However, if you treat it with too many (not many more) carbs, you could get a spike too high and be on a bit of a rollercoaster.
I would always advise, a handful of carbs just to nudge you back into or around normal levels. That may mean only a couple of bites and not a meal!

If it's a spike and testing fifteen minutes later after food, have a walk to help, this does seem to help you counter and help get the control! It does for me.

Your BG levels are great by the way!
Best wishes.

Thank you @lovinglife and @Lamont D - you've given me peace of mind, I think I was getting a bit worried, the 'what ifs' started to creep into my thoughts.

Your replies make perfect sense. If this happens again I'll take a few almonds. It's a weird feeling. I have a bit of a dizzy head at the best of times as I take blood thinners, but this was different.

I really appreciate your help. Many thanks.

Huh! Interesting thread - I have been experiencing this as well for about 2 weeks, although I also have severe nausea with it. I have to sit down, sip water and after about 10 minutes it goes away.
I do blood pressure readings each time and they are fine.
