Hi all,

Just wondering..

I'd like to reduce the amount of carbs i eat, hence posting here :)

I wouldn't say i'm a picky eater but i guess i'm used to eating the basics, bread, pasta, potato etc.

I've been thinking for a while i was to reduce my carbs due to weight gain and general health after reading alot about the benefits a low-carb diet can have..

I'm not overweight for my size at all, but i'd hate to get to the point where i wonder why i gained so much weight and having to battle to get it off, if that makes sense...

I've read the newbie guide and by low carb i see what it's classed as there and i guess i'd like to be in moderate low carb bracket :)

So after all that my wondering is leading to asking what foods are good to replace or bulk up a meal that has little or maybe no carbs,

I'm aware meat, veg, cheese etc and most main carb free foods, but i'd like some tips on what to maybe snack on, easy things, ideas so i'm not finding myself hungry because i have no idea what to eat?

any help would be geeeereeeeeeaaaat!! :)

I don't snack much, but nuts especially Macadamia nuts are good.[but costly :( ]
The best bulking veggies are leafy greens of all kinds and salads and of course the ever wonderful cauliflower and broccoli.

I snack on nuts and cheese but I low carb for my bgs not for weight loss but you could try using red and yellow peppers and carrots cut into strips and dipping into low fat creme freche or something similar you can jazz it up with a little chillie sauce or fresh herbs. If you make this in advance and keep it in the fridge it will be there when you feel peckish and you wont rush to the biscuits. CAROL

i don't think i've ever tried a macadamia nut! i'll have to try that one!

I like the idea of the carrots and peppers in the fridge so i dont run to the buscuits hehe!

it's not necessarily to lose weight, it's to make sure i keep at a nice healthy weight, as my ratio for insulin to carbs is quite high i'd like to reduce that as much as i can.

ah the beloved cauliflower and mash. strangely for someone quite young like me i quite like veg and salad so i guess thats a good thing for me!

thanks for all your help :o)
