I know this won't be much to you super cooks, but I had a great fish in batter last night. Batter is one thing I always missed, but it gave me really bad spikes. I tried a fish in batter with only 10 gram carbs (birds eye) compared to most that are about 24, but still got a 2 hour reading of 9. (fish was with a few new potatos and marrowfat peas.) I had the same meal but with plain white fish and it was 5.5.
This time, I made my own batter using soya flour (2 ounces) with an egg and 2 ounces of milk/water mix. Tasted really good, crunchy outside, bit of a smooth texture with a soft interior (bit like Aardvark!)(For those who remember the advert), and a bit darker colour, but no strange flavours. Really enjoyed it. I was hoping that 2 hours later I would be in between the plain fish reading and the birds eye reading, so in the 6's or just 7's.
It was 4.9! Exactly the same meal with new pots etc.
Winner! Gonna have loads of things in batter now!
