I found my first day back rough but I persevered and it's much better now! For me, I find mental stimulation drops me just as much as physical exercise. I'm sure no one would complain if you called in sick, but if it were me I'd go in. Once you're back into a routine you'll understand your diabetes better. Just make sure you continue to test and have snacks at the ready.

If you're at 4 or 5 before bed you should have a snack to prevent hypo through the night :)

I went back to work 3 days after diagnosis, I work a 10 hour day. Still now, after 9 weeks, my doses change daily depending on how my body is reacting and that will continue for quite some time! It's rough being diagnosed, but I found at home I wallowed a bit but once I was up and about I have accepted it and feel confident with how to approach each day.

Make sure your employer fully understands your needs. Stoping to test isn't a "break" and he needs to know that. It is necessary as if you feel hypo you must treat it immediately as it will just get worse. If you drop to 4 and that feels low for you, have a snack especially if your work means you're on your feet a lot.

Most people DON'T understand and we would be naive to expect them to straight away. Once he learns your routine I'm sure it'll be fine

That's the thing, they don't give you much info!

There is a book called "Think like a pancreas" it's fantastic and explains everything you need.

A Jaffacake isn't ideal for a hypo, you need a small amount of lucozade or coke, 3 or 4 jelly babies etc. something that acts fast! Then once you're no longer hypo you should have a Jaffa cake or digestive, around 10g carb, to sustain you until your next meal

I get up at 5.30am for work. This morning I was too low to drive. It would have been so easy to get back into bed! But I forced myself to eat so I could get in the car and drive to work (where I'm now skiving on here haha) you said you have a daughter? Show her mummy is fine and can handle anything :)
